Abstract

Background: Back pain are one of the common disorders in people, which can be caused by various factors and have various consequences. The purpose of this study was to compare some pastural and functional indicators in adolescent boys with and without non-specific chronic back pain.
Methods: 30 adolescent male students with non-specific chronic back pain and 30 healthy adolescent male students were selected purposefully. Individuals with non-specific chronic low back pain were identified using a visual pain scale as well as confirmation by a physical medicine specialist. Then, kyphosis and lordosis with a flexible ruler, proprioception with the lumbar angle active reconstruction test at a 30-degree angle using a goniometer, core stability with McGill functional tests, upper limb function with the upper limb Y test and Static and dynamic balance were evaluated with stork and Y lower limb tests, respectively. To compare the average variables in two groups with and without non-specific chronic back pain, independent T-test was used.
Results: The results of the research showed that there is a significant difference between proprioception, core stability, static and dynamic balance between two groups with and without non-specific chronic back pain. But in other variables, no significant difference was observed between the two groups.
Conclusions: The results show the importance of paying attention to proprioception and core stability and static and dynamic balance in adolescent boys with non-specific chronic back pain and in order to develop and strengthen them in the design of rehabilitation protocols, special attention should be paid to these components.
