Disability and the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities in Iran: What Can We Do? %K Disability %K Convention on the rights of persons with disability %R 10.30476/jrsr.2019.81231. %X On 13 December, 2006, the United Nations General Assembly adopted the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which is the first international document intended to protect the rights and dignity of people with disabilities worldwide. The core principles of the Convention is to promote, protect, and ensure the full enjoyment of human rights by people with disabilities and ensure that they enjoy full equality under the law. Accessible education, employment, health care, social service systems, transportation, technology, and generally society for people with disabilities must be ensured, Regardless of race, gender and age in order to achieve the goal of CRPD[1]. Despite these initiatives, many people with disabilities worldwide, including our country,  have been denied from basic civil and human rights, such as to live in the community instead of isolated institutions, and have access to employment, healthcare, and fair standards of living.
